School Launch Update

Dear Areopagus Classical Academy Community,

I just wanted to let you know that we are still diligently working towards launching a primary school in August of 2021. This road has been a tough one, and I would ask you to continue praying daily for this endeavor. That said, the Lord has been good to us! Here is what the Lord has done for us recently:

  1. Someone introduced us to the Head of School of Caritas Academy. Caritas is a classical Christian school in the East Valley. The Head of School at Caritas (Kathy) is a wealth of knowledge as she has been in the CCE movement for decades and she has worked at one of the most renowned classical Christian schools in the country (The Ambrose School). Kathy is extraordinarily kind and she recently met with me for two hours at a local Starbucks where she shared ample wisdom and offered a lot of guidance and assistance. Praise God for sending a wise counselor to assist us!
  2. We have been praying for God to send “workers to the harvest” to help us in this endeavor since June. In the last two weeks, God has sent two experienced classical Christian teachers our way, and I am happy to say that at least one of them (but maybe both) will be joining our “Initial Team” to help launch the school! We found these gentlemen via our Early Interest Teacher Application. Feel free to share this link with anyone you think may be interested in joining us!
  3. The Lord has provided us with $295 in donations! These donations have allowed us to purchase 50 copies of Discovering Classical Christian Education which is an amazing tool we are using to recruit parents (and their children). We were also able to purchase the “Starter Kit” from the Association of Classical and Christian Schools. This starter kit contains over four decades of wisdom acquired by those who have launched schools. It also provides by-laws, board information, student handbooks, insurance information, sample budgets, and guidance in literally dozens of other areas. It also gives us access to the Members Resource Center on the ACCS website. Thank you so much to those who have donated! That said, we currently have $12.92 left in our business account, so we would be grateful for donations of any amount because we need hundreds of dollars more for marketing and at least $800 to secure 501(c)(3) status. You can donate here.

Praise God for providing all of the above! Now let’s get to prayers God has not answered fully yet.

  1. We experienced a bit of heartbreak this month. We believed a church in Peoria was going to host the school. The pastor (a great man!) really wanted to partner with us, but ultimately the church said no. We do not understand why this happened yet, but we know the Lord has his reasons. Thus, we are still searching for space. This search has come to a complete standstill, however, because churches are far too busy responding to the COVID-19 situation to get back to us. We are therefore going to give churches a few weeks to settle in to this new reality before we start bugging them again. However, we will continue praying every day for God to send us space, and we ask that you pray too! What can you do besides pray? Please consider speaking about this with your pastor (especially if your church is on the West side of the valley). Our target location is “anywhere within 15 minutes of Arrowhead Mall,” but beggars can’t be choosers 🙂 Oh, and we are not looking for a church who will rent space to us, we are believing for a church who will partner with us, see us as a ministry of their church, and give us space.
  2. Students! Five students have been added to our Priority Application List. Our goal is to start school with at least twenty students. Please pray God will send the right families and students our way! Please also send this web page to parents that might be interested.

Thank you so much for making it to the end of this page!

Together, and God willing, we will launch this school so that we can ensure our students are raised in the paideia of Christ and not the paideia of the post-modern, relativistic, atheistic American state.

Next steps you can take…

If you are still not convinced that the Holy Scriptures explicitly mandate Christian education (not secular education in government schools), I would encourage you to pick up my short book. I have reduced the price to the point that I am not making anything from sales, I just want to get this argument out! Also, please consider purchasing multiple copies to give to prospective parents. If you do that, please let us know ( as that will encourage us greatly! If you have already read this book, maybe it’s time to continue your reading via our Bookstore.

If you (adults) want to study with us, please consider joining our 2020-2021 Lyceum: “Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost”.

If you need something to do during Quarantine 2020, please remember the Areopagus Education Podcast.
